Among his diverse professional experiences, Curtis enjoyed a career spanning 18 years as a leading creative force managing Operations, Promotions, Sales, Marketing and Business Development helping to build the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, comprised of 9 leading daily publications serving over 90 communities and 1.5 million readers across Southern California.

As an Operations Manager, Curtis provided systems set-up and integration of the Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune and Whittier Daily News circulation departments during the creation of the San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group, the original core properties of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group.  

In 1994 he created the Circulation Marketing & Promotions Department and went on to create promotional partnerships and campaigns with companies and organizations such as UCLA Athletics, Santa Anita Park, Coca-Cola, Continental Airlines, LA Galaxy, LA Dodgers, 7 ELEVEN, Ultimate Fighting Championship, and the Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon Presidential Libraries that would provide major circulation and advertising revenue streams while producing sixteen top industry awards, including seven from the Newspaper Association of America (NAA), the world’s largest international association of newspapers, being twice named an NAA Sales Executive of the Year from among the organization’s 2,300 member publications worldwide.

A gifted communicator, he was asked to provide essential editorial revision to a personal letter from top national labor lawyer, Michael Zinser to President Ronald Reagan, subtly modifying the document with consideration for critical political sensitivities and leadership while maintaining the integrity and zeal of its core message points to secure approval from a committee in Washington D.C. allowing the letter to be placed on display at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, where it was featured for nine years.
